Moskovich’s
Circumcision Forceps

Pen-&-Ink Drawing

An early attempt to develop an instrument to avert bleeding was made by Moskovich in 1920 when he designed the circumcision forceps, which resembled a towel holder with 7 indentations for sutures. The device did not gain wide acceptance, probably because of its poor cosmetic results. However, Moskovich envisioned bloodless circumcision, which was more successfully accomplished by others later.
