What is the CIRCLIST Google Group?

The CIRCLIST Google Group is an active group of individuals who have formed a private “listserve” (a private, automated mailing list) to discuss circumcision. Most of the discussion is regarding male circumcision, although occasionally we do have postings regarding female circumcision (removal of the clitoral hood). We share news articles, statistics, details of rituals, pictures of circumcision and the occasaional fiction about circumcision. Many of us grew up uncircumcised. Some wish we had been circumcised, others have actually chosen circumcision for ourselves or our sons. About half of us are in North America and most of the rest are European, with only a few members from Asia, Africa and the Middle East. We share our own personal experiences about growing up uncut and wishing we had a circumcised penis, along with accounts of our own personal circumcisions, medical information, etc.. About 10% of the list membership are females who either have an interest in male circumcision (for their partners or sons) or in having their clitoral hood removed.

This is a pro-circumcision group where circumcision is always supported.  Anti-circumcision activists should not join this group and will be removed when discovered.

We have accumulated a large archive of information on every aspect of circumcision along with a variety of circumcision images. Most of these photographs are clinical pieces showing the male or female before, during and after circumcision. They were produced as educational material for medical students, were taken during our own circumcisions, etc.. We also have many photos of the devices used to circumcise males and females. Nowhere else will you find such a well-informed group of people when it comes to the subject of circumcision. The list is not just a medical interest list, but relates to all things involving circumcision - an ideal place to meet up with fellow circumcision enthusiasts and proponents.

The technicalities of the LISTSERVE are provided by googlegroups.com.  Once you are a member (at no cost) you have the option of receiving as individual emails (sometimes with image attachments) all the messages posted to the group, or a single email digest of all daily posting (without image attachments). Alternatively you can view them on the web at http://www.googlegroups.com/.  We are Internet based only and produce no paper copy of our information. Members can also participate in online real-time discussions using ICQ.

Like any community, CIRCLIST has a set of rules. Please read the section below carefully before submitting a Membership Application.

Rules of the Mailing List  CIRCLIST

These Rules are subject to revision at any time.
  1. CIRCLIST is a PRO-circumcision group were circumcision is always supported. Anti-circ activists or others who are opposed to circumcision should not join this group and will be removed when discovered.

  2. This is not a forum to debate the morality of routine infant circumcision (RIC). Please read the complete policy on discussion of RIC for further clarification.

  3. Articles posted on CIRCLIST can be fictional or non-fictional but must refer favourably to circumcision. Off-topic material will be deleted.

  4. All members must be adults (i.e. over 18 years of age).

  5. Members are expected to send contributions regularly. An online community such as this lives by articles, stories and other member postings. Your contributions to the discussion are required.

  6. Pictures, videos, and sound clips are most welcome, as are links to articles in medical journals and the press. Pictures of actual circumcision procedures or devices accompanied by discussion about the picture in question are of particular value.

However... Descriptions of illegal acts, whether with minors or not, are not welcome. Pictures of minors which are not directly related to circumcision are also unwelcome. If you have material which you believe to be relevant but which might offend DO NOT POST IT DIRECT TO THE LIST but instead send it to the Moderators for an opinion. (Mail it to moderators@circlist.com). We will not censor material unnecessarily or on personal whim, but only with the aim of ensuring the ongoing success of CIRCLIST. That will not occur if the group is perceived to condone illegality.

  7. Postings to the list or extracts from the archives are not to be shared with anyone outside the group.

  8. You must not seek to harm or disrupt CIRCLIST or the privacy of its members and in particular you must not expose the true identity of any member who has chosen to use a nom-de-plume.

  9. You must fully understand, agree to and comply with CIRCLIST’s Legal Notices.

  10. Postings seeking meetings with fellow CIRCLIST members are deemed appropriate. Group meetings may be held and posted on CIRCLIST from time to time.

The CIRCLIST Archives

CIRCLIST has an archive containing many hundreds of photos and stories. At present, due to technical constraints, it is not possible to make this archive available to members.  In the interim, many of the fictional items sent to CIRCLIST in the past have been added to the Yahoo Group ‛Circstories’...

CIRCLIST Membership Map

We now have a map so you can see where our membership is located.  Follow these steps to get yourself on the map.  It’s not that intuitive...
  1. Sign up with frappr at http://www.frappr.com/, in the process disclosing your location when asked during the process of creating your frappr account. Make sure it is all saved, then exit the account set-up.

  2. Go to http://www.frappr.com/circlistmembermap.

  3. If you are not logged in there will be a note saying that it contains adult-only content and you’ll need to log in. Click the appropriate link.

  4. Now you should be presented with a page that shows the CIRCLIST map. To the right hand side of this page there is an ‛add to map’ section.  All you have to do is enter the required details and then click “add me”.

  5. You should now be able to see yourself on the map, along with the locations of other CIRCLIST members.
