SurveyAnalysis

* The survey strengthens my opinion that adult/teenage circumcisions have a major emotional impact on the individual. In view of the lack of negative comments it seems as if the majority have found it a positive and beneficial experience. The fact that so many Circlist members voluntary underwent the procedure in their late teens or later suggests that circumcision was an additional stage/dimension in their sexual development. Routine Infant Circumcision (RIC) does not seem to have the same emotional impact on the individual. The question can also be asked whether a circ preformed under local anesthetic - where the person emotionally experiences the procedure - has a greater emotional impact than a circ preformed under general anesthetic?

Another issue that arises is the possibility of physiological differences caused by RIC versus a teenage/adult circ. My suspicion is that if there are physiological differences, there should be a sensory difference in how a RIC and a teenager/adult circumcision experiences sex.

* The Re-circumcision respondents suggest:

a) That a fair amount of stretching takes place after circumcision as none of these guys indicated a poor initial circ. I now suspect that stretching of the remaining skin is more common problem than previously thought.

b) That a tight cut is definitely preferred by all. This raises the issue whether there is not a need for a readily available gadget with which one could easily tighten up his circumcision. The present methods are longwinded and possibly discourage many from tightening up. Alternatively, consideration could be given to arranging a Circlist Conference where all these problems can be dealt communally with the added benefit of meeting all the members.

c) These guys seemingly have no problem with being repeatedly circumcised. They have crossed an interesting psychological barrier. Compared to the longwinded agonies of some whether or not to do it, I consider them as true Circ. Connoisseurs. I cannot but wonder if they have not unknowingly discovered or caused physiological changes which at this stage remains hidden from the rest of us ?

d) There seem to be a relationship between teen/adult circumcisions and those opting for re-circumcisions. It would appear as if once the active decision to be cut has been made that subsequent circ decisions are easy. Interestingly no RIC respondents have opted for re-circumcision. The question now is why is this as result of RIC generally being more content with their status, psycho-physiological differences between RIC and teen/adult circs perception of the circ or just a lack representativeness in the survey ?

* There seems to be a greater interest in circumcision amongst the gay community than the straight community. One can only speculate if this is due to the desire of being more acceptable to a greater variety of sexual partners? One thing that is certain is that the interest in the subject is definitely not confined to a particular age group.

* Many of the uncut Circlist members seem to be in the process of considering whether they should be cut or not? In that sense the CIRCLIST serves as a valuable forum. It is also evident that there is a need for much more circumcision related experiences/stories/fiction to be posted.

* The willingness to partake and expose ourselves in a survey of this nature suggests an openness and maturity amongst the members of this newsgroup that I have not seen elsewhere. I salute such honesty and am proud to be part of it.
