Circumcision in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh

I would like to share a traditional circumcision story from India and Sri Lanka. This traditional style started off and was practiced in villages in India and has a greater impact in Sri Lankan culture. However now these traditions have mostly vanished from both countries due to many reasons such as health hazard and many prefer more modern ways. As you know circumcision is one of the religious practices in the Islamic faith. But in most Indian and Sri Lankan villages where Muslims are circumcised is of course practiced but also among the Hindus and other religions since they like it too.

The circumcision takes place between the age of 16 and 21. There are many reasons behind this; one is accepting the person into the adult society after the circumcision and give all the privilege adults get. Then another important reason they say is that adults should be ready to face the situation and when circumcised in childhood or in infancy that there is a probability of foreskin growing back again.

The style goes as follows that the parents (if no parents the guardian such as aunts, uncles, brother) should decide when a guy is going to get circumcised after discussing with the guy. If not, the guy should inform who ever is close to him and they should inform the village leaders. The village leaders will take it up and decide a date for the circumcision and will inform the village in public about the circumcision date.

The circumcision usually takes place in the home at around 5pm to 6pm. The circumcision is done by a person in the village who has experience in circumcision and this job of doing circumcision goes on by generations within the family.

On the morning of the circumcision day usually all the relatives arrive at the place of the circumcision and they get ready for the evening party; they make sweets and drinks for the evening function from the morning it self. At the same time the friends of the guy who is going to be circumcised also arrive and they usually accompany him and haves a chat with him.

While it is rare, in some villages in India as well as in Sri Lanka they dress the guy in wonderful expensive clothes and take him on a walk through the village with about 50 people accompanying him where everyone and he is greeted, wishes well and given sweets and so on.

Another more rare custom is that around 1pm one or two friends accompany the guy to the backyard of the home where they will be provided with warm water and with other necessary stuff with the help of the friends the guy will take off his clothes and cut his pubic hair completely. It is a style that not a single hair should remain and in other words a complete shave which will be confirmed by the friends; if it is not a complete shave where even one hair remains it is considered as unmannered, but as I said this is a rarity.

However most commonly, usually at around 1pm, the guy is sent alone to the backyard with warm water with necessary stuff to clean and shave off the pubic hair.

It will be a great lunch with all the relatives and in addition to that where the village leader with the circumciser will be present. Soon after the lunch the circumciser and the village leaders depart leaving only the relatives, friends and the guests. At around 3pm the people sing songs and dance and have a party in a gala way which lasts till 4:30pm.

Usually between 4pm and 5pm all the village people arrive as well as the leaders and the circumciser. At around 4:30pm and 5pm the guy is sent with one of his friends to wash his pubic area one last time with giving some traditional village perfumes to spray. So both of them go wash the pubic area and spray the perfume; then they are given a white cloth where the guy removes all his dress (completely nude) and then his pubic area is covered by the white cloth.

Then the guy is taken to the living room where his guardian takes charge of him and accompanies him to the hall or where ever the circumcision is going to takes place. The place of the circumcision is usually a large space which has the area to have a bed and to accompany visitors (Not all the visitors are allowed; All the males are allowed except 10yrs and below; when it comes to females only relatives, invitees and the family members of the village leaders and the family members of the circumciser are allowed and other are not permitted).

Everyone who is able to be present in the hall will be present to witness the occasion and the guardian will accompany him while everyone sings song and greet him. When both reach near the bed the guardian gives the guy to the circumciser and from that point onwards the circumciser will be in charge. He will be told to lie down on the bed by the circumciser (All these times the song continues). Then the white cloth around his waist is removed exposing himself and his penis to all the attendees at the hall. Then the circumciser usually examines the penis to make sure it is healthy and OK for circumcision.

After everything is done the guy is told not to look at his pubic area and in addition to the circumciser another four people will also hold him to make the process go quickly. Males guests will be selected to hold two legs and two arms. The two arms will be held tightly and firmly without movement and the legs also will be held very tightly and firmly in a wide spread manner so that the safety is also met not disrupting the process and clearly exposing the penis.

The circumciser has the circumcision knife and an object to place the foreskin to remove it easily. Then the circumciser informs the gathering that the circumcision is going to takes place. Usually at this point the guy’s penis is almost withdrawn into the body, seemingly anticipating what is about to happen.

The circumciser starts out the circumcision process by stretching out the foreskin and pulling it forward as much as he can (Since the penis is almost withdrawn inside the body when the circumciser pulls the skin forwards with the foreskin and much more penis skin comes forward) then place it on the flat object which he has brought (The object is something like a small kitchen table or chopping board which is used to cut vegetables but this is similar to that but very small) He then uses the knife and chops off or removes the foreskin in a quick way where the foreskin removal does not lasts even a minute.

However when the foreskin is removed we can clearly see that the guy feels the pain and a sudden movement comes within his body but usually at first that there is a cry but then it vanishes off while the process continue. Soon after the circumcision is done the guy’s penis is covered with a thick bandage where almost the whole penis is covered and a small part of the glans
(The top red part of the penis) is viewable.

Then the circumciser leaves the process giving instruction on how to take care of the penis from there onwards and he gives out instruction that not to cover the penis for about an hour due to pain as well as sensitivity; from then onwards all the relatives give out gifts such as valuable including money followed by the men and then by the females. This process lasts for about 1 hour.

Soon after that the guy is escorted to his room and takes rest. He usually lies down on the bed and friends are there to help him out one by one for about a week. There are two major problems he faces. First the urinating troubles he has and with the friends help usually that is solved out. The second problem is one of the major problem that the sensitivity of the glans
(The top red part of the penis; since this is exposed and it is not used to have direct outside contact except the foreskin) as well as the sensitivity of the area that was cut; Usually this is solved out by putting a cloth over the pubic area and raising up the cloth which touches the penis using a rope and tying it to the roof of the room.

After about 3 – 4 days they normally keep a cloth over the penis. Usually all prefer to use a white cloth due to several reasons such as cleanliness, easy to detect bleeding etc…

After about one week time the guy will be ok back to his normal situation and by this time friends would have left the place. The guy will be ok to move on his own and now the only work is to leave the penis as it is and leave it for healing. After one week onwards till the healing process is completed, the preferred dress which everyone prefers is the traditional Indian dress known as sarong and this dress allows a good air flow within the private parts. After about a month the penis is well healed and then the guy gives a lunch or a dinner to his friends, the circumciser and his family as a mark of thanks. Most circumcision style ends up in a high and tight circumcision (According to a doctor I know who got circumcised in a traditional Indian way at the age of 22.)

During this ceremony the circumciser will remove the bandage and will confirm that the penis is ready and back to the normal use. However if he says that the penis is not yet ready the circumciser will make a weekly visits to look up the situation and will confirm when it is ready to use.

This is the process which is followed in India and Sri Lanka till the end of 1970’s. However this is taken from a normal routine style that is followed in the region; yet this differs from country to country as well as village to village. However this style never seems to be followed in the urban area and I would like to welcome others to come and share if any traditional circumcision stories available.

Most of the people (I mean the non Muslims in the area) preferred circumcision because it is good for health and easy to maintain the cleanliness of the penis where it avoids the smegma getting collected inside the foreskin, then they also preferred the circumcision since it gives good sexual pleasure; where the glans
have direct contact with the vagina which gives a good pleasure to the male and for female (mostly uncircumcised men penetrate in & out within there foreskin and not in & out of the vagina; so this helps a female to have a good pleasure). Also most women prefer circumcised penis for fellatio (Oral stimulation of the penis / Taking the penis inside the mouth and giving pleasure to the male)

In some parts of India the circumcision is almost a must to get married while in some other parts females are reluctant to accept uncircumcised partners to share there bed.

However now the traditional methods described above are lost and only few people from 1970 eras know about these and even the stories are not passed out to the people. Now circumcision in India and Sri Lanka is done within first 5 years of the birth, more than the circumcision for religious reason circumcision but rather for medical reason Even the cosmetic circumcision is now popular.

Traditionally all groups in India had some degree of opposition to circumcision considering it a Muslim practice. India is about 12% Muslim. The Sikis are the most opposed followed by the Jains followed by the majority Hindus. On the other hand, Protestant missionaries brought it into some degree of popularity especially as they run a lot of hospitals.

My husband, Raju, was circumcised before marriage. (I would not have married an uncircumcised man.) Most marriages here are more or less arranged. I will disappoint many by saying we had next to no discussion prior to marriage. When his family began to talk to my family about a possible marriage I made him a packet of print-offs discussing the advantages of male circumcision from the net and asked him to read them. After reading he was in full agreement with getting circumcised before marriage. Only after the date was set did I think we should try sex before circumcision in order to be able to compare. From medical tests we knew we were disease free. We are both glad we did as it showed us the great sexual advantage of circumcision. The Muslim surgeon allowed me to watch. As the circumcision draping was placed over him and his member pullled through the hole, only the outline of the head could be seen under the folds of foreskin. The instruments had been auto-claved and the nurses, doctor and I wore masks. Slowly all the offensive skin was removed forever. A perfect job. We both love it.I think I have answered all the questions. The fear of AIDS will do a lot to make circumcision more acceptable.

I recently was told that young unmarried sexually active young people have taken to the use of 2 condoms. The man places chili powder at the end of his condom. Then he puts on a 2nd condom. Should the woman feel chili powder she knows the 2nd condon has broken. Should the man feel chili powder he knows his condom has broken

I would note that the Muslims seem to lowering the age of having their sons circumcised. 30 years ago most were done by Muslim clerics at home at about age 10. Now most seem to be having it done at hospitals before the age of 5

I am a Roman Catholic who was born in Bombay but raised in the only tiny Jewish neighborhood in that large city. Despite much criticism and questioning from family and friends, my parents decided on day 3, to give me a New year's present. So they circumcised me on Jan 1st and this was the start of the many wonderful things they did for me. Now because I was 'different', I was teased and ridiculed a lot in school and when I played outside this neighborhood, but I managed to counteract their taunting by letting them know that being uncircumcised was ugly, unclean and stinks (I still strongly believe this). I attended an all boys school and that made it even worse. I remember at least 4 annual class picnics, where I was pinned to the ground by class bullies and my pants dropped so that the rest of the class knew what a circumcised Catholic looked like. I was nicknamed Cutaholic ABC, Cutaholic for Cut Catholic and ABC is a translation of a local language which meant half cock. This was mainly due to the very high and tight circumcision that I have. The scar is very neat, almost 75% down my shaft and therefore the glans is always exposed even in a flaccid state. I have always loved the way my penis looked and could never have imagined it any different.

When I was growing up in Bombay, I always disliked going to camps because there always was a strong smell which I later learnt was smegma. I put up with the teasing for the longest time, but when I turned 14 and in my last year of middle school, I made quite a few bucks on the side by asking for money from guys who were not bullies but curious to see, touch or stroke my penis. I charged them a buck to see, two to touch and three to stroke for a minute. I never enjoyed when they touched or stroked my dick but they sure got their fix and I got their money. It 'pays' to be circumcised!! In fact many of my school mates told me in confidence that they wished they were circumcised too because it looked much better and is also much easier to keep clean.

Growing up, I knew that being circumcised, I was the absolute minority (if you exclude the Muslim population, who have a 100% circumcision rate) but I am so glad that it was done because I have since immigrated to America, the land of the circumcised. My parents sure had the foresight to get rid of my foreskin!! My 4 sons are all born here and I have continued this tradition which will keep them clean for the rest of their lives. I also insisted that their circumcisions be very high and tight.....so all of them are like father like son. My wife once commented that we could have made a suitcase with the amount of foreskin that was cut off in the family. In fact having married a Caucasian, my 4 boys ages 10-15 are very handsome and have beautiful color. They have no inhibitions to shower naked in public showers and their copper colored circumcised penises, surely attract looks in such places.

Unfortunately the boys in India are NOT circumcised but I am happy to note that all of my 3 sisters and also 2 cousins have got their sons circumcised in India and that too by the same Jewish doctor that did mine. All of them are therefore high and tight, and done freehand like mine with very good results. Dr Solomon, who is also a mohel, is now a family friend and I was even very fortunate to witness 5 of my nephews circumcisions when I lived in Bombay. I am close enough with my 7 nephews and my cousins 4 sons, to give them a few "tips" of what to do and say, when they get teased. I am hoping that my parents and now my sisters have started a trend in India and wish that this minor and necessary surgical procedure would be more accepted and performed in that country, as is done here in America. We may be missing a foreskin but for those who are uncircumcised, you are missing something big time!!

I was invited to teach English at a Moslem college in the state of Andra Pradesh, India. This college has about 100 students - dining hall and infirmary. Being Moslem all are cut. But the city of Vishakhapatnam has a population of over 600,000 people of which there are over 20,000 street children. Almost all of these kids are Hindus or Catholics and therefore uncircumcised.

Of all the religions in India only the Moslems circumcise and they make up 12% of the population. The educated Hindus hate circumcision because they are always fighting with the Moslems. The street children may be orphans or else are runaways. Language is of course a problem but I had translators. To make a long story short Moslems quite approve of giving Hindu boys a proper circumcision. The street children don't go to school and so can't read or write.

Where I was staying, they invited 2 uncircumcised street boys every day. They returned 2 newly circumcised boys back to the streets each day and replaced them with two new uncut ones. That way there were 2 circumcisions per day and they kept them for a week until they could see that they were all healing well.

The boys got new clothes, good food and a money gift. No boys over 14 were circumcised because they did not want to have to place any stitches. So all were between 10 and 14.

Upon arrival they got a soap bath and a sports outfit to play in. The very careful washing - pulling the foreskin back sometimes pushing it back for the first time was the night before the operation. If the boy had begun to grow any pubic hair this was shaved away. But they spent the day playing with the other boys who were healing up.

Surprisingly, the circumcision were often done with Mogen clamps. The morning of the operation, they simply sprayed the area (cock and balls) with an anti-bacterial spray. Their cots in the infirmary were next to each other. The Mogan clamps were completely sterilized as were the knives. The foreskins were wet with the spray and then the boys were encourage to skip rope or run around the room to help dry the wet parts. Then the boys were placed on the cots with their legs spread. I don't think it ever took more than 15 seconds to grab hold of the foreskin, pull it tight and place the Mogen clamp. They would leave the clamps on for about 3 minutes. Then the "coup de grace". The razor sharp knife cuts the foreskin off. Then they remove the clamp and see the naked head appear - never to be covered again.

You know, those Indians are often very beautiful people. It is a country where almost everyone has something to say about circumcision but all they think about is Moslem vs Hindu. Of course, the Moslem's think they are doing the Hindu boys a great favor, and I suppose they are as most are so poor and have very poor hygiene.

I have spent quiet a few years in the Indian sub-Continent, which needless to say, has a large Muslim population. India, where I spent a lot of time, has 1 to 1.2 billion people and about 15% to 18% population that was of the Islamic faith. Making that approximately 200 million Muslims and therefore at least 100 million Muslim males. I therefore had a good bit of exposure to Islamic/Muslim traditions including marriage, death and customs at birth and/or at puberty – i.e. circumcision.

I was "liberated" on 29 December last year at the age of 29, after being married for 2 years. I had no disease but got it done as I was convinced of the benefits.

Am a Hindu (circumcision as a practice is not widely prevalent in Hindus-but there are many circ Hindus. Religion has nothing to say about circ), live in North India where circumcision is not a routine practice but the place I got it done said they perform more than 10-14 such operation every day. That's a large number (when you multiply with the hospitals) but then so is India's population!! I have increasingly heard questions related to circ from among friends and colleagues alike.

Since I was circ ed after marriage, I realize a vast difference in the before and after stage. I must confess the only regret my wife (who comes from a family of circ men and had seen the circ of her younger brother) and I was why did I not have this done earlier. Its been 7 months of sheer bliss after being liberated. She finds it great and love making could not have been better.

I was certainly very pleased with the result. The insignificant pain from the local anesthesia was quickly through, the only botheration for the first night after the operation was the erection while it was stitched up.
My wife now has simultaneous orgasm.
My wife always favored circumcision for hygiene. Often in oral, she was felt nauseated by the smell of the uncircumcised penis

In social circles invariably the topic of the "tool/johanny" crops up and now my wife feels better to inform how happy we are as a circ has been done. Its a boost to self esteem

Love making moves from good-better- to best. I must say it is best now.
Never had such wonderful times-both in oral and in intercourse-it can be regulated
requires lil more lubrication but then it is naturally available and the friction-the more the better.

Both my wife and I have agreed to have our child circumcised. I am sure he will grow up and thank us for it.

I am a Hindu, live in North India, was circ'd one year ago at the ripe ol age of 29. I had no problem that required a circ but it was a childhood fantasy to have a circ penis.

As a child I had seen some of the other school boys at the boarding school to be different than I. But non of them remembered why they were different. The first time I heard the word circumcision was during one of the school health check ups. During those times all us residents would be lined up for examination by the school doc. After the initial dental, eye and ENT check ups and he would ask us to strip to our underwear. I remember these were rather embarrassing moments. The school nurses and the doctor would be present and the first thing the doctor would ask for would be a urine sample. The nurse would take a small tumbler and follow us into the bathroom and ask us urinate in front of her. She was there to ensure that there would be no substitution!! Also she would end up cleaning most of us who were uncut-just pulling back the foreskin and cleaning up the underneath and washing it. Those who were cut would often end up making fun of it and we were kind of looked down upon.

The obvious thing was uncut boys were looked down upon. Later as I grew up I started playing tennis and in one of the tennis training camps we were all asked to undergo medical check up. The lady doc who did the check up simply told me to undergo a circumcision as "it would greatly benefit me". I still remember her words and rue the decision that I postponed the process.

For a long time I did want to be circumcised, and fantasized about it frequently. I always wonder if my fascination with circumcision would have been less intense if I would have known what it is much earlier, and if someone would have told me the benefits of circ before entering school, or that my parents had routinely done it for me. But these topics were rarely discussed at home.

I got married at 26 years culminating a 8 year old relationship. During this time we were both convinced of the benefits of circ and during one of those times last year when my wife was away on a long tour I decided to muster enough courage to get an appointment with the surgeon. While I was waiting for him in the hospital the duty doctor walked up to me and was asking why i was there - so I told her what I was there for. I remember she almost scolded me for not having got it done in childhood!! Later when the surgeon came he asked me to strip and the nurse almost exclaimed that "it should defiantly be circed" I tried the usual excuses of pain in retracting my foreskin and infections, but he soon saw through me and asked if I wanted a circ done, my
heart skipped a heartbeat and I quickly said yes of course I want one done. I was given a date and told to turn on the D day.

I arrived on the D day feeling a little scared and feeling little embarrassed as I knew it would be an overnight stay in the hospital and during that many people would be seeing me. The operation was scheduled at the end of the day as I had asked. I completed my office work and then got to the hospital and I had thought that the weekend would help me recover faster. (I have to drive a bike 6-7 kms to work) At the hospital after checking in I was given a room and I was relaxing when two nurses came in started preparing me mentally for the operation. They told me about the process and how it is such a minor thing and the recovery time and what benefits there are in it and how it would be all fine and nice. I could almost seen a shine in their eyes in their attempts to tell me how nice it would be. Anyway soon they told me to strip and wear a long green dress that covered nothing. Soon they came with the stretcher and wheeled me in. I was feeling cold as it was winter and I was wearing nothing except this gown so first I told them to make me feel a little warm put some blanket one me. Once inside the operation theatre they prepared me medically for the circ. Two nurses spent a lot of time cleaning up the place. One of the nurses pulled back my foreskin which the last time I saw it on me and cleaned it with alcohol and then started swabbing my pubic area with some red antiseptic. That was embarrassing to say the least but there was also an element of eroticism in the whole process which last a good 10 minutes or so. I kept throwing questions at them and they like seasoned nurses kept telling me the answers about the procedure and recovery. It seems they quite enjoyed the fact that they were doing it on yet another person. During this time I learnt that it was rather accepted practice and that on that particular day only the hospital had performed more than 20 circ.

That's quite a lot but then so is India's population!!! Soon the doc arrived and told me what process he would do and how much it would be cut. I loved the whole idea of him trying to tell me in front of these ladies how nice it would be and how I will "love his art creation"!!! I told him it would be better if my wife loved the look of his art creation. After I was given a local anesthetic I was told that they are now ready. While the doctor was circumcising me, the nurses were telling me how the doctor was doing a wonderful job and I’d be looking great afterwards, how much of an improvement it would be. Within 20 minutes it was all done and slowly I regained consciousness. I was being wheeled out when the other hospital staff told me that it is just nothing and soon I would be fine. I stayed in the hospital that day. All night I was troubled by erection and I was scared that what if I break any of the stitches. Fortunately that did not happen. I was given a tight circ and the frenulum was completely removed.

Within 3 days I went back to the doctor for a check up and he told me I was recovering fine and was quickly on my way to speedy recovery. The painkillers and bandage were over in 4 days and within twenty days I was able to see the impact of the art creation. My wife loved it and our love making has been so great, just out of the world experience ever since. I love the circumcised look of my penis and when I masturbate, it's larger and no more extra skin to restrict my erection.

My wife has found my new state just perfect. She told me how much she had wanted this to happen long ago but our financial status could not permit us then. We are both very happy that this has been done. Our love making sessions now are more spontaneous. Love making goes on for more than an hour. she loves to give me head. We are both well endowed and the best has been she putting it between her rather heavy boobs. She says a circ penis is definitely better not just for giving head , but also for intercourse, manual stimulation, and visual appeal. She says that this is primarily due to circumcised penises being cleaner and looking sexier. The sensation has increased tremendously.

I procrastinated to long for almost many years because of fear of pain and lack of knowledge of the benefits. In hindsight, I regret that I should have done it earlier.

Both my wife and I have decided that if we have a son he is defiantly getting this gift as a child.

I am Imasha from Sri Lanka living in Uhana, Ampara. As a female, I would like to share the story of my brother's circumcision; he was circumcised at the age of 22 in April 1979. We follow the Buddhist religion, in the Buddhist religion as well as in Sri Lanka the circumcision is not a common thing. I can surely say that very few Buddhist in Sri Lanka would have heard about the circumcision. As a family in a Buddhist village we lived in a rural area of Sri Lanka where farming is the main occupation for most. My father work as a post master in the nearby post office.

Our village is located near a Muslim village, where circumcision was common, how much ever the circumcision was common in the Muslim village, most of our villagers have never ever heard about it. As a lucky person I had some Muslim friends where they related stories of circumcision in their village. I was eager to go there on a day to see a circumcision. One of my friends promised me that I can come there to see her brother's circumcision. I have heard that the most boys are circumcised between the ages of 6 and 18. I have heard that how they celebrate and many other stories. But before I got the chance to visit my friends place to view a circumcision, unexpectedly it turned out to be a circumcision party at our place.

My brother had some problems in his genital, so the doctor in the local peripheral hospital has said that the foreskin is too tight and should be immediately circumcised to avoid any further problems. Later on I got to know that his foreskin had been too tight that even when erect the glans
won't come out and it has caused severe pain to him, in addition to this, he also seems to had problems when passing the urine.

My father had the option of taking my brother to the General hospital or the base hospital which are located at a distance of 250km and 175km respectively, where he could be given an anesthesia, However my father had decided it is a long travel which will take at least four days for the whole procedure and the circumcision can be done at the home itself.

I can't remember the date exactly, it was on a Sunday where everybody is off and they stay at home. My father invited some of his Muslim friends to assist with the circumcision procedure, which was common for them. The circumcision was scheduled at morning 10am. At around 9am itself dads' friends had arrived who are going to help with the procedure. My brother had agreed to carry out the circumcision without anesthesia and he says better to circumcise quickly since he is having severe pain. None of the people were invited except some immediate family relatives such as aunts and uncles.

The friends of my dad have already started to have a chat with my brother and they were guiding him to shave off his pubic area and they were up-to-date with all the procedures. At around 9:30am to my brothers' embarrassment the doctor of the peripheral hospital arrived.

My brother was so embarrassed since she is a female. My mother had an argument with my father why did he invite a female to do the procedure, but later on my father told that she was the only person who had prior experience in circumcision.

As per the doctors guidelines a bed was arranged and kept in a place where there is enough of light to carry out the procedure. After having a cup of coffee and sweets it was around 10:15am when they decided it's the time to perform the circumcision.

My brother was wearing a t-shirt and a sarong (a traditional Sri Lankan and an Indian dress where all the men usually wear) when he was escorted by my mother to the bed, and I can see my mother was really tensed. My brother laid down in the bed with his t-shirt removed to avoid any interference. I have never seen an adult penis directly except in the films. When he laid down in the bed, the doctor started to check her operating tools and finalize.

The doctor started to perform the surgery, when she began to cut the foreskin my brother shouted with pain and try to move his hands and legs, but within seconds he was laid down waiting for the surgery to finish. After the surgery he said that at first he felt the pain but later on he felt as it was buring in the pubic area.

The surgery did not take long, within five minutes everything was over. My dad, mom, two cousin sisters, one cousin brother and few aunt and uncle including myself was there to see the circumcision. The doctor told my brother to allow six weeks to heal, and prescribed him some medicines, I think some antibiotics and anti erection pills may be. He was in the bed completely for four days and later of he started to resume to his normal schedule. However it took two days for the medicine to reach our place.

During night I was beside his bed to help him, and then only I noticed that he got erected during night, where he woke up with pain. Since he was wearing a sarong everything is clearly visible and during this time only I estimated his girth and length.

However as the time went by our family shifted to Colombo for future prospects and I recently learnt that the circumcision traditions and the ritual way of circumcision is no more there in Ampara, where all the people go to the nearby hospital for circumcision which can be done with anesthesia. I am really glad that I at least got a chance to see how the circumcision was performed.

Hello, I'm Imasha from Sri Lanka, and I had many positive comments regarding my brother's circumcision. So I wanted to relate this additional information about my husband and his circumcision.

Our wedding was a lavishing party at a hotel located in Nuwara-Eliya (Known as the “Little England) Sri Lanka. The temperature was cool and rainy. It is a Sri Lankan tradition (Probably a Buddhist tradition) to have the first night in the place where the wedding was held.

I married my boy friend; we knew each other for 9 months before we got married. However before marriage we discussed about all the topics including sex. Soon after the party at the hotel all the people left with only immediate relations were left. Now it was time to go to the room to enjoy our new lives alone. A honeymoon suite was reserved for us in the top floor which gave the entire see through across the nice city. After getting the key from the reception I and my husband proceeded to the lift accompanied by my mother and my mother-in-law. This accompanying is a traditional thing which they do, usually the mother of the bride and the mother of the groom escort the couple to their suite where they will enjoy the first night.

Soon after we got into the lift my husband stood behind me and when he tried to press the lift button I got to know that he is already sexually aroused. After a month, I bought up the topic of getting circumcised. My husband did not have the faintest idea what a circumcision is and he has never ever heard such thing. When I explained for the first time he did not get it correctly and he thought cutting the penis by middle itself. So I needed to keep on explaining one by one and with great difficulty he understood what circumcision is. Thanks to the internet, I used several sites and photos to show the pictures of circumcision, it benefits and many other information.

It took 5 months for me to convince him to get himself circumcised. I also related my brothers circumcision story which was done in a traditional way years before for medical reason. However he got scared again that he will also needs to undergo circumcision in the traditional way. We agreed that the circumcision will be done under anesthesia and not in the traditional way. So my next task is to find a doctor who will do the circumcision. Also I need to find this doctor before my husbands mind changes. Usually most doctors in Sri Lanka don’t do circumcision except for medical or religious reason. We had neither. Usually circumcision are done by Muslim doctors and now I need to find a Muslim doctor, if not other doctors won’t do the procedure. During this time we were working in Kandy and at my work place there was a Muslim woman who had a 3 year old male child. I asked her one day that did she circumcise her child and from her I got to know a doctor who does circumcision.

We made the appointment with the doctor and when we went to the doctor he said that he doesn’t do adult circumcision and referred to another doctor who does it. After meeting with the doctor whom we got referred to, he agreed to do the circumcision. He told that he usually does circumcision under local anesthesia. Soon the date was set and everything is finalized for the circumcision. I took my annual leave to help him and my husband went on for two weeks annual leave.

The surgery time was given as 6pm and from the morning itself I made him sweets and we enjoyed the day. We had sex three times during the course of the day and my husband continuously had sex with me saying “the last sex with my foreskin”. I also enjoyed having sex with him and I made him to have sex since we will be out of sexual activity for a month and to prevent him from getting an erection. My husband almost kept me nude all day long.

We were at the clinic at 5pm and as promised the doctor was on time and my husband was given a local anesthesia and the circumcision was started. I did not go inside the room to see the procedure. Even though I have seen a traditional circumcision, I was scared to see this time; may be because my husband is undergoing it. After 30mins my husband walked back and I was happy to see him. The doctor prescribed some medicines to him, I think those are anti-erection pills and anti-biotic.

Soon we drove through the hills to our home. I was so eager to see how his new penis is. My husband removed his clothes and I could see his penis with bandages. He wore the traditional Sri Lankan dress sarong which is the best dress I think that can be worn after circumcision. It took 5 weeks for him to recover completely and we did not have any sexual activity for 7 weeks.

I was eager to have sex with him and to enjoy, the day arrived. I started to please him by taking his new penis and the fresh glans to my mouth. However we could not hold for more than five minutes and he ejaculated. However we got completely involved in sex and as the time went by he was able to hold on for longer time than he used to.

I was done when i was 12 years old ritually and for religion reason. In Bangladesh 85% are Muslim and all are circumcised. Some Catholic, but also cut. I was undressed and sat down on the floor. My uncle spread my legs and hold it tightly. My brother hold my hands also. Circumciser sat in front of me and sliced off excess my penis skin. I shouted out but helpless. But now a days I'm so happy with my status.
